Favorite national parks:

Yellowstone, Crater Lake, & Glacier

Travel must-haves:

A good beer, good music, headphones, & cooperative kids

Worst travel moment:

Hiking in Sequoia National Park with a screaming two year old on my back.  Worst. Moment. Ever.

Favorite travel memory:

Our trip to Polebridge and being disconnected from the world.  Plus the those pastries at The Merc and the Clothing Optional Pale Ale at the saloon, well it was the icing on
the cake.

Best thing about travel:

Aside from the ability to travel? It’s probably camping in our trailer, and being with our friends and family.

Favorite destinations:

New Orleans, Hanalei, Polebidge, Rialto Beach, and Prairie Creek State Park

Favorite national parks:

Redwood, Yellowstone, Glacier, and Olympic

Travel must-haves:

my camera, a Gorilla Pod, hand lotion, a good book, my iPhone, a soft blanket, and our travel buddies

Worst travel moment:

There’s two that really stand out in my mind. The first is when Lucas was five, exhausted, hangry, and overstimulated while we were waiting for our cruise along the Potomac at Mount Vernon. A meltdown of epic proportions ensued and everyone was staring.  Not our finest moment, but it happens when you travel with kids. The second was last summer when we hit a road block 90 miles down a desolate highway with no services in site.  Didn’t have enough gas to get back to a town, didn’t have cell phone reception, and was in a state of panic.  Let’s just say there was a guardian angel on the highway and some road blocks can be ignored.

Favorite travel memory:

The behind the scenes tour of the White House with a Secret Service agent and having a lovely lunch at the Capitol with our local congressman are definitely two that will forever live in my mind.  A few of my others were our time in Polebridge as a family, climbing the log jam at Oneonta Gorge, and seeing a mama grizzly bear and her two cubs in Grand Teton National Park.

Best thing about travel:

Making memories with my family is for sure at the top of the list! Also, the fun of researching our trips, experiencing new adventures, learning to adapt to new or challenging situations, and becoming intimately acquainted with our country.

Being attacked by mosquitoes during our hike on the Hell Roaring Creek Trail in Yellowstone.  I was over it!

Staying in a McMenamins hotel in McMinnville, Oregon…eating dinner on the roof with sun setting, and watching a flock of about 200 starlings flying in the sky and then into
a chimney.
